| The creation of WineStems came about quite innocently! Allan Kirkendall, a licensed Clinical Psychologist, has worked with combat veterans for almost 30 years. To deal with the everyday stresses of his profession, the Kirkendalls have enjoyed music together to bring a sense of balance and peace into their lives. Every summer, the Kirkendalls attend an outdoor concert series in Roseburg, Oregon. They would pack a picnic dinner, a bottle of wine, and set out for a lovely concert in the park. They enjoyed drinking their wine out of glass stemware, not plastic cups. Needless to say, after the frustration of spilt wine, the idea for a WineStem was conceived in Allan’s mind. Heading to the garage, Allan spent an afternoon bending metal and emerged later with a victorious solution for balancing your wine glass while picnicking. Appreciating the function, Sheryl further refined the WineStems, adorning them with gemstones for some artistic pizzazz. At the next concert while using the WineStems, the Kirkendalls were immediately met with enthusiasm from fellow concertgoers. It was a serendipitous moment, and thus, WineStems got its humble beginnings. |
